Third Annual LAN Party Scheduled for Nov. 12

November 4, 2009 by Pierre Nelson

With more games, sponsors, prizes and tournaments, this year’s LAN party, set to be held in the University Center, will be bigger and better than the last two. The main sponsor for this year is Harmonix – the makers behind the popular video game Rock Band. Co-sponsors include Barnes and Noble, who be giving out numerous $25 gift cards to be used at the newly built Bridge Street Town Centre location. There will be other freebies given away arbitrarily as well as free food and drinks.

There will be five main tournaments throughout the party, with games such as Street Fighter 4 and Halo 3. To participate in the tournaments, one must either sign up on the Web site or arrive early the day of and sign in. The winners will receive newly released video games as well as other prizes.

The two PC games available for the tournament will be Team Fortress 2 and CounterStrike. If you want to participate in these games, it is necessary to bring your own laptop or desktop. Besides that, there is no need to bring anything unless you have a particular console game to play.

The fun starts at 5 p.m. and lasts until midnight.

Just to amend this with a minor correction, the gift cards donated by Barnes and Noble are provided by the new management of the on campus bookstore. The gift cards are for their new bookstore, but can be used at any B&N location as well.

you’re right. i wrote it exactly as such but this is the attenuated version by the editor.
