Helping Hands in Higher Education Auction to Benefit Magic Moments
November 4, 2009 by Amber Rauschkolb
The UAH student chapter of the Society of Composers, Inc., and other student organizations such as the UAH Art Club, Poetic Voice and the UAH Student Sociological Association are helping launch a college campaign called “Helping Hands in Higher Education” by hosting a silent auction to benefit the children of Magic Moments.
Magic Moments is an Alabama-based non-profit organization. For the past 25 years, they have awarded non-medical wishes to children in Alabama, who have been diagnosed with life-threatening or life-altering medical conditions. Since 1984, Magic Moments has granted 3,800 wishes in all 67 counties in Alabama. 150 of those wishes went to children in the Huntsville area.
What makes this organization unique is its support of children who have life-altering medical conditions. A life-altering condition might not take a child’s life, but it does rob that child of the chance to experience a normal childhood.
Currently, they are looking for people to donate to their auction/raffle. Donations are tax deductible since Magic Moments is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. If you wish to donate and have any questions, e-mail marykate.doolittle@chsys.org or call (205) 558-2426.
